SMT PCB Assembly -

SMT assembly means Surface-mount technology. It is a method that the PCB components are mounted directly onto the PCB surface by high accuracy Pick & Place equipment. Of cause solder paste need to be applied on the PCB PAD first. The processes are:

What type of files or documents should I send for SMT PCB Assembly? 

Gerber Files: The file contains all details of physical board layers including solder masks, copper layers, drill data, legends, and so on.  
Bill of Materials (BOM): This contains information on the list of items needed for the PCB manufacturing and the instructions of manufacturing.

When it comes to small-volume production, we usually prefer automated through-hole PCB technique. This helps reduce material handling and labor. Our manual technique can handle complex through-hole assembly challenges. This technique is designed to minimize operator movement as well as product travel. Documentation along with in-process checks ensure the complete and accurate population of the assembly. Wave-soldering is utilized for both through-hole and surface mount components. However, we prefer to use it for through-hole components. Moreover, in mixed technology PCBs are both reflowed and wave-soldered.
